David McKee, in the book Elmer — the colorful patchwork elephant — taught children all over the world a valuable lesson about acceptance.
Inspired by this, we decided to celebrate Elmer Day at the Gelar Cultural Center to teach our children the values of accepting differences and respecting diversity in our society. Our goal is to raise children who are more empowered and more aware than generations before them — children who are better prepared to shape the future.
